The Antient Press, founded by Ruth & Sam Sparacio, began publishing Virginia County Court Records in 1985 with the publication of a book of Orange County Deeds and a book of Orange County Wills. We have published to date partial Court Records of 23 Virginia Counties, 3 Virginia Cities and miscellaneous records of ancestral interest. These include Family Relationship books, Surname Indexes and our Antient Press premier book, Pamunkey Neighbors of Orange County, Virginia. We have also published two volumes of supplemental data regarding 21 families that appear in Pamunkey Neighbors.

The Antient Press has over 500 publications. Court Records have been transcribed and published in our books in a chronological pattern which may enhance research; for example, Culpeper County consists of 23 books (deeds, wills, tax and minute books), covering the years 1763 to 1809. Richmond County consists of 47 books (deeds, orders and accounts) covering the period 1692 to 1783.

Most of our books are transcripts of the Court Records as complete as possible, including legible margin notes and marks. The page number from the original Court Book is given for each entry. Books are indexed, primarily by surname.

Books published by The Antient Press are perfect bound, in an 8 1/2" by 11" format, and distributed exclusively by us. All prices for books include postage and handling (domestic USA only). International orders should E-mail us for additional postage and handling charges to be added to the purchase order. Books are mailed via U.S. Postal Service at the Media/Book Rate, unless another means at additional cost is requested by the purchaser.
